HILLMAN MEDICAL EDUCATION FUND
What We Do
The Hillman Medical Education Fund of Rose Charities was founded by Prof. Elizabeth Hillman to support medical education and to foster future leaders in medicine, particularly in East Africa.
Programs funded in 2008 include:
- Training of 16 trainers in Kenya in Emergency Triage and Treatment This is a course in the resuscitation of children who arrive in the emergency acute care at the hospital.
- Fostering Leaders in Medicine in Kenya. HMEF is awarding outstanding medical students in Kenya with Hillman Leadership Awards.
- Sponsoring the Workshop in Nairobi to revise the PHC Manual for Health Workers in Africa. This manual is used by many African medical schools Don and Liz Hillman helped the East African colleagues write the first manual many years ago.
- Training of 30 Traditional Birth Attendants through Frontier Primary Health Care in the North West Frontier of Pakistan.
