Having started his first export business in his late teens, Tim Maguire has always embraced the entrepreneurial spirit. The ensuing 30 years saw Mr. Maguire complete International Business studies and then go on to create and operate successful international shipping support and industrial supply companies.
William's academic career includes a PhD in materials science from Oxford and a masters in Parasitology and UK Boards Tropical Medicine Diploma and a Doctorate of Medicine from London University. He developed interest in international development while assisting at a hospital in Papua, New Guinea. He is one of the founders of AMDA Cambodia Chapter, Project IRIS Cambodia, Protimos Cambodia, and Rose Charities. He has field work experience in SE Asia, Angola, Rwanda, Nepal, Sri Lanka. Assistant Clinical Professor of B.C. Children’s Hospital.
Eric is a chartered accountant and has more than 20 years experience in the professional services industry. He started his own practice, Vanderluit & Associates Inc, in 1998. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honors Bachelor of Mathematics degree in accounting and information systems. Eric is a director of the Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver Foundation and the Renew Crew Foundation. He is also a director of United We Can, which is a well respected charity operating in the downtown east side of Vancouver. He is married with four young children and is an avid canoer, hiker, mountain biker, and skier.
Maggie is the Manager, Counseling Program of Family Services of Greater Vancouver, a non profit organization providing services to individuals, couples, families and children. As a social worker, Maggie has over 30 years experience working in the counseling field in the social service sector in London(England), Toronto and Vancouver.
Josephine has spent 25 years in international development starting with a war widows cooperative in Zimbabwe in 1978. In 1994 she volunteered at the BC Children’s Hospital to create their International Health Programs and initiated projects in South Africa and Guyana. In 1996 she assisted UBC to develop the Centre for International Health and organized "Bridging the Pacific" APEC conference on distance education. In 2004 she managed the CIDA funded project in Guyana "Strengthening Public Health in Guyana" a 5 million dollar CIDA funded project on HIV/AIDS and TB.
Yoga came to Canada from Sri Lanka. In Canada he completed his PhD in engineering in Alberta and worked as a consultant for the energy sector for four years. He moved to BC in 1991 to work for BC Hydro's Powertech labs and became the Director responsible for the Clean and Renewable energy programs. In 1996 he completed an executive MBA program at SFU after which he shifted from science to management of technology development and commercialization. In 2004 he moved to National Research Council as a Director of Technology Deployment and Commercialization at the Fuel Cell Innovation Institute and is focused on technologies to mitigate climate change and improve the environment. Since the Tsunami in 2005 he has been involved with Rose Charities and worked with Sri Lankan and Vancouver groups to implement a number of projects.
Paul is a Graduate of Cape Town Medical School, South Africa. He has a lot of experience in medical practice in rural South Africa and rural Canada. Currently, he is practicing Anesthesiology at the Vancouver General Hospital and is the Associate Professor of Anesthesiology, University of British Columbia. He is interested in clinical research, practice and education.
Collin completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Leicester in England. He then trained and practiced as a General Practitioner in the United Kingdom for 10 years. In 1992, he studied Pediatrics at British Columbia's Children's Hospital in Vancouver. Following his certification from the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, he continued on for sub-specialty training in Biochemical Diseases and Cystic Fibrosis. Dr. Yong is now in private practice in Pediatrics and also a staff member at BC Children's Hospital. He is an active member of the Rotary Club and a consulting pediatrics expert for Rotaplast International. He joined the board of Rose Charities Canada after volunteering for Rose post tsunami. He undertakes active field involvement in FIRST-Rose Cambodia in conjunction with a team from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In his spare time, Dr Yong is also a semi-professional jazz guitarist.
