FAQs
Does Rose Charities receive any grants?
The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) recently awarded a grant for our work in peace building in Sri Lanka. However Rose Charities has to match this grant from its own funds. No other financial aid is given for any of our projects, everything is supported by donations.
How much of the donation goes to the project?
Aa a registered non-profit NGO, it is impossible to avoid some overheads - bank transfer fees are a good example. However, Rose Charities is run entirely by volunteers who donate time and resources to minimise overheads. We do not have office premises or staff. At present, approximately 98% of donations go directly to support our projects.
How are your projects funded?
Different projects are funded by different Rose organisations. For example Rose Charities New Zealand raises funds in that country and supports the Rose Charities eye clinic in Cambodia. Rose Charities Canada raises funds (mostly in B.C.) and supports the projects in Sri Lanka and Cambodia. All funds are raised by individuals who organise events or by direct donations from individuals or occasionally from small companies.
