What we do
Since 1998, we have been the forerunners in training Cambodian surgeons in child and family rehabilitation surgery, as well as delivering free or low cost surgical procedures to the poor of Cambodia.
We are passionate advocates of the '2TS' principle, of
| Training support | |
| Treatment sustainability |
We have followed these principles to the letter operating, uniquely in an all Cambodian organization. While there are several expatriate organizations within the country, doing useful work, FIRST-Rose Child and Family Surgery is staffed and managed only by experienced Cambodians with no controlling expatriates.
Operating from Chea Chumneas Hospital - part of the bona fide Cambodian Health System, FIRST-Rose ensures that proper support is given to the Cambodian Health Services. While parallel 'hospitals' running outside the heath system may deliver services of varying quality, they serve more to undermine rather than support Cambodia's Health Authorities and thus may be detrimental to long term sustainability of universal health services within the country.
FIRST-Rose has trained Cambodian surgeons at centers all over Cambodia and given operative treatment to thousands of poor Cambodians. In addition it has been visited by many international surgical groups who have augmented these processes.
FIRST-Rose has strong ties with the University of British Columbia and the Chinese University of HongKong.
